The 2022 Parade will honor the cultural history to which this event has contributed since its inception 131 years ago with fresh floral tributes and the theme “Viva Las Flores!”\n \nAs the second largest day parade in the United States\, the Battle of Flowers® Parade supports the educational\, artistic\, social and philanthropic achievements of our community’s youth.\n \nThe Battle of Flowers® parade holds the distinction of being the first celebration held in Alamo Plaza and is considered the founding event of Fiesta® San Antonio. The parade has entertained our city every year since 1891\, except during World Wars I and II as well as the Pandemic of 2020 and 2021. This is a family friendly event for everyone and kids ages 0-14 can register as official participants. \nMay is Brain Tumor Awareness Month and we are raising critical funds to provide support for DIPG and pediatric cancer families. \n  \nABOUT THE RACE \nGabriella’s 5k Cupcake Run and Gabriella’s Smile Foundation is named after Gabriella Elise Torres\, who was 5 when she battled Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG)\, a terminal form of brain cancer. She died just 8 days after her 6th birthday on November 7\, 2015. \nGabriella’s 5k Cupcake Run is the first of its kind here in the San Antonio community for Brain Tumor Awareness Month\, which is in May.
