Federal law requires states to implement Electronic Visit Verification for Medicaid home health care services by Jan. 1, 2023. HHSC will request a good faith effort exemption from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to extend this deadline by one year. CMS will begin accepting GFE requests in July 2022. HHSC Plans to submit a request at that time and expects to receive a response from CMS within 30 days.

HHSC Intends to implement EVV for Medicaid home health care services on Jan. 1, 2024.

HHSC will continue posting updates as they become available.

HHSC will discuss this topic in the April HHSC EVV Payer Workgroup.
