Community First Health Plans was established in 1995 by University Health specifically to begin providing health care coverage to the citizens of Bexar and it’s seven surrounding counties.
At Community First, our mission is to not only improve the health outcomes of our Members, but also the overall health of our community. A portion of all Community First’s proceeds goes directly into improving the community we are a part of.
The faculty and staff of Woodrow Wilson Elementary School will be hosting their “Family Health Night”. This event is open to all the students and families of this school.
Free community resources, health education, and fun activities will be provided.

This event will showcase the many elective programs and clubs the school has to offer, so students can make an informed decision regarding course selections for next coming year.

Community Service Learning (CSL) is a structured learning experience that combines community service with explicit learning objectives, preparation, mentorship and reflection.
The Annual CSL Conference at UT Health San Antonio originated in 2008 as an opportunity to learn from the CSL experiences of students, faculty, staff, and community partners in San Antonio and across Texas. Each year, the conference focuses on a theme relevant to service-learning and hosts experts and guest lecturers, provides skill-building workshops, and showcases CSL projects through students’ poster presentations.
Free Family Night takes place the first MONDAY of the month from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM.

The Mobile Mercado brings residents in food desert areas access to locally grown, farm-stand quality produce and other healthy foods, at affordable price points.
Professional chefs and nutritionists on board demonstrate how to make tasty meals with the healthy ingredients found on the truck, offering samples and providing nutrition education, including diabetes-friendly recipes.

iCycle is one of the Value Added Services offered by Community First Health Plans. iCycle is for our members but it is also open to the public to encourage a healthy lifestyle within our community.
We have partnered with City of San Antonio Parks & Recreation to host a class once a month at different centers throughout San Antonio. A Marketing Representative will be on-site to answer questions about the plans and provide giveaways and a certificate to all participants.
