Splash pads are great places to visit if you want to get your kids outdoors AND stay cool at the same time. Lucky for us, there are several splash pads spread out across San Antonio and surrounding areas.

Check out our list of FREE local splash pads and water play areas, pack your sunscreen, towels, and water shoes, and get out there and enjoy some summertime fun!

Union Pacific Railroad Splash Pad at Yanaguana Garden

Where: 623 Hemisfair Boulevard, San Antonio, TX 78205
Open daily from 5 a.m. to midnight
Cost: FREE

Located in Hemisfair Park, the Union Pacific Railroad splash pad is large, inviting, and wheelchair accessible. Adirondack chairs and picnic tables provide seating and shade is ample. After drying off, kids can change in the private changing booth and continue to play in the sand play area, on the climbing structures, and with the giant chess and checkers set. Other accessible amenities include a wheelchair-accessible sand digger (sponsored by Community First), elevated sand table, an adaptive swing set, wheelchair-accessible hammock, and more.

Splash Pad at the Historic Pearl

Where: 303 Pearl Parkway, San Antonio, TX 78215

Located just a mile north of downtown, Gustav’s Geysers splash pad at the Pearl is a great spot for the whole family. Plenty of shade, seating, and a large greenspace for playing tag, a game of catch, or sunbathing. Pack a cooler with drinks and snacks or grab a bite from one of the Pearl’s many dining options.

Benavides Park

Where: 500 Saltillo Street, San Antonio, TX 78207

Cost: FREE 

Benavides Park features a shaded splash pad, playground, softball field, pavilion, and basketball court. A small park with a big potential for summer fun. Pack a picnic lunch!

Elmendorf Lake Park

Where: 3700 W. Commerce St., San Antonio, TX 78207
Open daily from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Enjoy the splash pad and public pool at Elmendorf Lake Park or get a little more adventurous and kayak the lake! Other park amenities include a large, covered playground just adjacent to the splash pad with nearby benches and picnic tables, fishing (no permit required), shaded grounds for running and playing, and more.

Park West Splash Pad in Seguin

Where: 623 N. Vaughn Ave, Seguin, TX 78155
Open daily from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Cost: FREE 

Enjoy Park West Splash Pad’s multiple water features and stay and play on the accessible playground. Plenty of shade covering both areas! Park West also has a skatepark, athletic fields, a basketball court, and trails for hiking and bike riding.

Northview Splash Pad – Universal City

Where: 100 Randolph Plaza, Universal City, TX 78148
Open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Cost: FREE 

This epic splash pad offers 16 water features divided into three sections. Toddler Bay generates a gentle spray designed for small children. Family Bay is great for all ages, and Teen Bay, featuring a 15 GALLON dump bucket, is for older, more adventurous kids. The splash pad also has two shaded areas, changing rooms, picnic spaces, and a playground.

Fort Sam Houston Splash Pad

Where: 3323 Dodd Road, San Antonio, TX 78234

Cost: FREE 

Cool off at the Fort Sam Houston Splash Pad on base and then visit the Quadrangle, a national historical landmark with a scenic clock tower and park filled with deer, rabbits, and peacocks, plus a military museum. Enter Fort Sam Houston through the Walters Gate. Visitors must present a driver’s license.

Pearsall Park Splash Pad

Where: 4700 Old Pearsall Road, San Antonio, TX 78242
Open daily from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m.

Pearsall Park has one of the largest and most impressive splash pads in San Antonio, featuring a variety of water spouts, sprayers, and even slides! Enjoy other family-oriented amenities, like an enclosed multi-level playground (also named the biggest in San Antonio), a zip line, a skate park, trails, and fitness zones.

Emmitt Park

Where: 2477 N Loop 1604, San Antonio, TX 78232
Mon-Sat from 7 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.; Sun from 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Cost: FREE 

Cool off at Emmitt Park Splash Pad and stay and play on the toddler-friendly playground, circular swing, and in-ground merry-go-round. Park is fenced in and features shaded seating areas, restrooms, and a basketball court. Emmitt Park is located on the Community Bible Church campus but is open for public use.

Voigt Park Sprayground

Where: 700 El Portal Dr., Hollywood Park, TX 78232
Mon from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.; Tues – Sun from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

*Pool located next to the sprayground can be accessed for a fee.

Located in Hollywood Park, the Voight Park Sprayground is a great water play option for toddlers and small children. Shaded picnic tables, a small playground, and restrooms are also available for public use.

Fischer Park

Where: 1820 McQueeney Rd., New Braunfels, TX 78130
Open daily from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Cost: FREE

Fischer Park, the largest park in the New Braunfels park system, features a large sprayground with a giant tipping bucket, so prepare to get soaked. Fischer Park also has two fishing ponds, playgrounds, Nature Education Center, and stunning Hill Country views.

Stage Stop Park Splash Pad

Where: 9374 Valhalla Drive, Selma, TX 78154
Open daily
Monday – Saturday from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Sun from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Cost: FREE

The Stage Stop Splash Pad is a kid’s dream, featuring a splash pad and TWO shaded playgrounds. Families can also enjoy nearby amenities, like soccer fields, a basketball court, restrooms, and walking trails.

Bulverde Community Park

Where: 29815 Bulverde Ln, Bulverde, TX 78163
Open daily from 6 a.m. – 11 p.m.
Cost: FREE

The splashpad at Bulverde Community Park is great for a hot summer day. The park also features sports fields, two playground areas, walking trails, several large open spaces, and fun, FREE events, like Movie in the Park.

Lincoln Park

Open daily from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.; Pool hours: Sat-Sun 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Cost: FREE

Lincoln Park is a great space for the whole family, featuring a splash pad, shaded areas for picnics and family time, softball fields, a covered basketball court, and a shaded playground.

La Vernia City Park

Where: 221 San Antonio Rd, La Vernia, TX 78121
Open daily from 10:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Cost: FREE

Work up a sweat at the large, multi-tiered playground and then cool off at the La Vernia City Park splash pad which includes the ultimate soaker dump bucket!

The River Park

Where: 900 River Park Rd, Pleasanton, TX 78064
Open daily from 5 AM – 11 PM
Cost: FREE

Visit the largest park in Pleasanton, freshly renovated and featuring an incredible splash pad with multiple water features, like a water wheel. Additional new attractions at The River Park include a skate park, a zip line, new playgrounds, and walking trails.
