The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) has announced that the ongoing federal government shutdown does not impact Texas Medicaid coverage or reimbursement for telemedicine, teledentistry, telehealth, or home telemonitoring services.
Key Information for Providers:
- All Texas Medicaid policies related to telemedicine, teledentistry, telehealth, and home telemonitoring services remain fully in effect.
- These services are authorized under the Texas Medicaid State Plan and Texas Government Code, Chapter 548, and are not affected by the federal shutdown.
- Providers should continue delivering all medically necessary covered services to eligible Medicaid and CHIP members in accordance with existing Texas Medicaid policies.
What You Need to Do:
Providers should continue offering telemedicine, teledentistry, telehealth, and home telemonitoring services as usual. There are no changes to coverage, reimbursement, or service delivery requirements during the federal shutdown.
HHSC will issue updates if there are any changes to this guidance. If you have questions or need support, please contact the Medicaid and Dental Benefits general mailbox at: MedicaidBenefitRequest@hhsc.state.tx.us.
