Sep 15, 2026 | Provider Resource

Physicians can improve flu vaccination rates by combining a strong recommendation with convenient access and patient-centered communication. A personal, clear recommendation from a providers is one of the most important factors influencing patients and caregivers.

Important Reminder

Children ages 6 months through 8 years who are receiving the influenza vaccine for the first time, have previously received only one dose, or whose vaccination history is unknown may require two doses during the same flu season.

Providers should:

  • Review each child’s vaccination history.
  • Determine whether a second dose is needed.
  • Encourage families to complete the full vaccine series when indicated.
  • Follow up with eligible Members who have not completed their recommended influenza vaccinations.
