The mission of Community First Food Pantries is to help in the fight against food insecurity by supplying food and other items without barriers for those in immediate need while acting as a catalyst, inspiring others to give alongside us.
Our vision is a Community First Food Pantry in every local community, so those in need can access food and other items when needed.
What is a Community First Food Pantry?
Our Food Pantries are designed with several unique features to help achieve our mission and vision.
24/7 access
Most open seven days a week, 24 hours a day and freely accessible to all, removing barriers to food access.
Free-standing, weather-proof, and conveniently located
Maintenance and up keep provided by Community First.
No cost, no registration, no sign-up
Take what is needed and give back what and when you can.

Working with key community partners
Collaborating with schools, public libraries, civic organizations, businesses, churches and other groups to facilitate donations and bring Community First Food Pantries to their communities.

Community First Health Plans has installed food pantries across South Central Texas, and you or your organization have the opportunity to fight food insecurity in your community by adopting one!
What does adopting a pantry look like?
- Commit to visiting and stocking a pantry on a regular basis
- Fill your pantry with non-perishable goods and other essential items like hygiene products, clothes, school supplies,
- Report data from the door counter placed inside your pantry
- Inform Community First of any damage or maintenance issues that may need addressing
What is the process to adopt a pantry?
- View the map of our currently installed pantries and find one near you
- Fill out the form linked below with you/your organization’s information as well as the pantry you would like to adopt
- Community First will contact you to confirm your pantry adoption and provide additional information
Adopting a Community First Food Pantry will be a great philanthropic effort and team-building activity for you or your organization, and your generous commitment can help relieve the effects of food insecurity in San Antonio and beyond.
